OBS Studio Setup for Camming
OBS Studio is free, open-source broadcasting software. Cam models use it to add overlays (tip menus, goals, toy status), switch scenes, improve audio, and send one polished feed to one or more sites.
Install and run the auto-configuration wizard
Download OBS only from the official site, obsproject.com. On first launch, the wizard suggests resolution and bitrate settings based on your computer and connection.
Build your scenes
- Main scene: webcam, overlays and an optional tip menu image.
- Break scene: a "back soon" image with music off.
- Privacy scene: a black or branded screen you can switch to instantly.
Add sources
- Video Capture Device: your webcam. Set resolution and frame rate manually.
- Browser Source: for tip goals, alerts or toy overlays provided by your cam site or toy app.
- Image and Text sources for your menu and schedule.
Audio filters
On your microphone add Noise Suppression, then a Compressor, then a Limiter. See our microphone guide.
Sending to cam sites
Some cam sites accept an RTMP stream key from OBS; others use a browser broadcaster. For browser broadcasters, start the Virtual Camera in OBS and choose "OBS Virtual Camera" as your webcam on the site. More in virtual camera settings.
