Virtual Camera and Webcam Settings for Cam Shows
Most cam sites let you broadcast straight from the browser. A virtual camera lets you send a polished feed (with overlays and filters) to those browser broadcasters as if it were a normal webcam.
Using the OBS virtual camera
- Set up your scene in OBS.
- Click Start Virtual Camera.
- In your cam site's broadcaster, choose OBS Virtual Camera as the video source.
Manual webcam settings
Automatic settings change constantly as you move. Lock them:
- Exposure: set it after your lights are on, so your face is bright but not clipped.
- White balance: match it to your lights' color temperature.
- Focus: fix it at your usual distance to stop "hunting".
- Anti-flicker: set to your country's mains frequency if lights flicker on camera.
Resolution and frame rate
Make the camera, OBS canvas and output match the resolution your site supports. Mismatches waste processing power and can blur the image.
Privacy check
Before going live, look at everything in frame: mail, photos, windows and reflective surfaces. See safety and privacy.
